A busy month for Grace

This has been a very busy month for Grace since she turned 7 months old on Jan. 26th. She has cut her first two teeth, learned how to commando crawl, figured out how to sit up on her own and not tip over. This last week she has learned how to pull her knees up under her and crawl as well as how to pull herself up onto her feet! Sometimes she can even get back down, but not always. She also fell down the stairs for the first time, hence the chair now blocking them. At least it was the small flight of stairs...poor girl.
This is a picture of Grace sitting in a "safe place". Maddie was watching Grace for me while I was fixing dinner and she decided this was a good place for her. Me being the good mother that I am ran for the camera instead of scooping up Grace! Here is a video of Grace crawling. She looks way too little to me to be crawling.

Fishing and Peas

In Joy School we just finished up a unit on Order and Goal Striving. Part of the lessons involved the kids setting a goal and then working on reaching the goal during class for the next few days. One of the girls decided to learn to tie her shoe, a couple worked on their letters and one practiced a new piece on the piano. Nathan decided his goal was fishing! I'm not sure where he got that from but fortunately one of the other Mom's suggested a magnetic fishing game she has. (Thanks Maegan!) Nathan loved it! He would work and work, catching the fish one at a time and then tucking them back into the plastic bag they came in. He got pretty good at it!
Maddie had a project for school as well. She had to make a diorama about a fairy tale she read in school. She decided to do one about "The Princess and the Pea". She found the box, the dolls and the bed and she drew the queen's footprints and the door. We couldn't figure out how to make the mattresses so I called my Mom who is very creative and she had a great suggestion as well as the supplies we needed to finish the project. Mom's are the best! Maddie's project turned out really cute and she got a good grade on it.

A sneak peek

Steve and Sarah came over the other day with the dresses that the girls are going to be wearing for the wedding. Grace woke up from her nap just in time to model hers.

I don't know if Grace knew that she was pretty or if she just liked being the center of attention but she was totally hamming it up! Look at that grin!Looking good Steve! He tried on Grace's hat but his smile just isn't quite as cute - too many teeth maybe!
